The Moth Lady by Dianae The Moth Lady by Dianae
This one is for :iconmisticunicorn:, she also won 3rd place in the Fall contest, ex-aequo with ~zigazi :)
She requested something that could be inspired by fairies, butterflies, Art Nouveau, oriental style.... so I drew this. I hope she'll like it! :)
These are the most clean lines I've ever done... and this is damn hard oO I think that painting is MUCH easier!
I tried to make it look a bit minimalistic and traditional.... I don't know if I succeded....

Photoshop CS3
Wacom intuos 3A4
5 hours
No reference used

The prize was a black and white digital lineart, but since I added some color in zigazi's prize, I added some here too :)

Fav!!!

I wonder if Mme. Moth is jealous of Mme. Butterfly....?

Regardless...It's fantastic.

Ooh, it's gorgeous, Diana! It reminds me of Beardsley's works a bit (that's good :aww:). Your lines are really amazing! Did you use Scratchobard tool for it?

Hmm, maybe you should simply make a 'lineart' folder in your gallery, and not move these pretties to scraps. If they bother you so much, remove them from the Featured gallery - people will still see the folder and the images if they're interested :)

Thank you so much :blushes: I didn't know Beardsley's work, I've done a Google search and wow! Thank you so much! It's amazing, very elegant and delicate !
I used the same brush tool as usual, I just set the shape jitter to pen pressure, 0% (but not opacity jitter) and painted over the crappy lines until they looked clean :)

You're welcome! :3

I didn't know about Beardsley until I got History of Art in college this year - he was one of the top, really important artists we learned about. I guess you can see why, haha.

That's amazing, then! I never managed to make my lines nice and clean in Photoshop :\

Making lines clean takes a lot of time, I think that it's much harder than painting.... It's a matter of practise though, as usual :)
